Meet Our Team


John B. Davis, BC-HIS is Nationally Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences. Since 1996 he has experience in the field of hearing loss treatment, and tinnitus management, including 14 years as a factory representative for a major hearing aid manufacturer.

John opened Sound Advice Hearing Center in June of 2011. He has helped thousands of York and Mecklenburg County residents regain their quality of life through better hearing. He is a member of the River Hills/Lake Wylie Lions Club and serves on the hearing committee, Assistant Scountmaster of Troop 255 in York, and a member of the praise band at his church. John enjoys attending the Charlotte Hornet games with his family and being out on the lake when he is not at work, GO HORNETS!


Dr. Alicia Durkin joined the staff at SoundAdvice in 2020. She is a licensed audiologist for both North and South Carolina. She is a member of both the American Academy of Audiology and the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association. Dr. Durkin grew up in northeast Ohio and received her bachelor’s of speech and hearing science from The Ohio State University. She then furthered her studies at The University of South Florida where she received her Doctorate of Audiology. Since graduating, Dr. Durkin has been practising in the Charlotte area for the last 4 years. She loves being able to help people of all ages with their communication needs and hearing health. Her areas of interest include tinnitus management and aural rehabilitation.
In her free time, Dr. Durkin enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking, and cheering on her Cleveland and Ohio State sports teams. She looks forward to providing the gift of better hearing as part of the SoundAdvice team.


Lisa joined the staff at SoundAdvice in 2019. She is a Charlotte transplant after living in Columbia, SC for the past 13 years and originally from NJ & PA. Lisa is the friendly voice that greets our patients on the phone and the welcoming smile when patients come into our practice. She enjoys soccer and football with her husband and children (she is an Eagles and Bears fan, but we will not hold that against her ) and has a big heart for rescue dogs. She has 3 dogs, Justice, Harper & Luna.


Heather has been part of the Sound Advice team since 2015. She helps out at the front desk in the mornings and handles the administrative task for the office as well. Heather is a graduate of Winthrop University. When not at work she enjoys traveling with her husband and children and rooting on the Carolina Panthers. GO PANTHERS!!!


John goes above and beyond to help his clients hear the best they can with the latest technology available and even invents devices for rare situations.
